Pepperdine University Learners visit ICANN Ombudsman

Filed under: academic institutions, general, icann meetings — Frank Fowlie @ 1:03 pm

Learners from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University have begun an externship with ICANN and the Office of the Ombudsman.  Seven Masters level students have attended an orientation with ICANN on Ombudsmanship, Online Dispute Resolution, and ICANN operations.  The learners will be completing externships at the ICANN Los Angeles Meeting.  They will be helping ICANN staff with a number of activities during the meeting week.

The learners received a number of presentations on ICANN’s structure, the supporting organizations, the Office of the Ombudsman, the UDRP, and ICANN”s formal dispute resolution mechanisms.  Mr. Colin Rule, Director of Conflict Resolution at eBay also particpated by confernce call and gave a presentation on online dispute resolution.

We look forward to working these learners and assisiting them in the completion of their degree requirements.  If you are at Los Angeles meeting and have the opportunity to say hello to them, please do so.
